  Indian Lake, Sabael, New York

Chief Sabael Cotttages are now for sale

Dear Vacationer,

Whether you're planning a winter, spring, summer or fall holiday, we'll be able to accommodate you here at Chief Sabael Cottages. We are located on the shore of one of the most beautiful and unspoiled lakes in the Adirondacks. Our grounds are spacious and the cottages nestle under tall, fragrant pines. All of the cottages are very comfortable and fully equipped, except for linens. They all have stone fireplaces except Seneca which has a cozy wood stove. We also have efficiency apartments, which are open all year for hunters, skiers, snowmobilers, white water rafters, etc.

Indian Lake, a fourteen-mile long body of sparkling water, averaging a mile in width, affords the very best in swimming, boating, fishing, and an opportunity to explore innumerable islands and coves. From the shores of Indian Lake rise many spectacularly beautiful mountains. Snowy Mountain, 3,903 feet high, has a trail to its summit, from the top of which a wonderful view of the surrounding countryside can be seen.

We have a pleasant beach area with a rustic Adirondack log lean-to and fireplace, docks for boats, and a large swim float. Golf can be played at several fine courses just a short distance away. For winter fun, we're located between two great ski areas, Gore Mountain in North Creek with its gondola, and Oak Mountain Center in the village of Speculator. There's skiing too, at the Indian Lake Village area which has a T-bar lift and skating rink. There are snowmobile trails as well as cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Rafting trips on the upper Hudson are exciting, combining breathtaking scenery with miles of exhilarating white water.

The cottages are within walking distance of the post office and The Lake Store, which supplies a complete line of groceries, meats, ice cream and souvenirs. The Indian Lake Market, a medical center, and resturants are in the village about four miles away. Both Catholic and Protestant churches are also located in the village of Indian Lake.

Since Indian Lake is centrally located, you will be within leisurely driving distances from many Adirondack points of interest, such as Blue Mountain Adirondack Museum, Lake Placid (site of the 1980 Winter Olympics), Whiteface Mountain, North Pole, Lake George, The Great Escape, and Saratoga Performing Arts Center.
